To maintain network availability. Network troubleshooting, monitoring using network management and monitoring tools
To extend network service to Dept., Faculties, etc. LAN design survey, LAN design,LAN cost estimate, Network device configuration, vlan configuration, ip allocation, osfp configuration, fiber testing and activation, network device installation, UTP cabel installing.
To maintain network availability. Network/Wifi AP troubleshooting, monitoring using network management and monitoring tools such as wireless controller
Appreciate the scope of work and cost of materials involved in extending wifi to student, staff and guests and faculty. Wifi survey, cost estimates, IP planning
Plan IP structure for Public and Private IP spaces for UG for LAN and wireless users ( i.e. Student, Staff and Guests) and infrastructure servers and network devices. Identifying number of users in the University, (LAN and wifi ) in given location, dept, node, etc. and make room for future growth of users. Calculating subnet lengths for each location node, dept., infrastructure servers and network devices. Allocating IP address block to subnets
Enabling Internet access to staff, student and faculty. Provisioning fiber link. Creating vlans. Configure ospf routing protocol. Configuring BGP protocol.Bandwidth provisioning.
Involves monitoring network to maintain high availability of network and Internet service. Using network monitoring tools such as Cacti, Nfsen, Nagios, smokeping to monitor traffic, latency and bandwidth usage from dept and faculty and Infrastructure server farm.
To protect the University’s internal network, services and resources from intruders. Maintain and apply access control policies for servers, network devices and remote access through VPN
Appreciate the scope of work and cost of materials involved in extending LAN to student, staff and guests and faculty. LAN design survey, cost estimates, IP planning, vlan configuration
Provide assistance, insight and guideline to Faculty, student and other tertiary institutions on building and managing campus network. Give seminar presentation to student and faculty. Collaborate with faculty and industry in researching to solve industry problems. Mentor Computer Science and Engineering students in their academic projects and carrier choices. Offer guideline to research.
To allow users access the University’s resources such as email, ITS and other intranet services and help student and faculty to learn and do research. Plan and design wireless network, ip planning, bandwidth provisioning, authentication
For maintaining and ensuring resolution of names to IP addresses of servers running services for easy access via name instead of IP. DNS record entries. Ensuring DNS service is always running. Checking logs for errors in name resolution.
